  • Attendance Notes: There is a significant drop in attendance for this (the second show Marigold have run in KBS Hall) with the 235 reported for this show down by around 34% from the 357 reported for their show in June, which saw the beginnings of the Marigold Superfly Championship Tournament.

Undercard

New very much appears to be the name of the game in this opener. Not only does Myla make her way to the ring in stunning brand new gear made specially in Japan, but Komomo – still searching for her first careers singles victory – provides some more innovation in her developing arsenal, hitting an Into Oblivion-style DDT after initially targeting the arm. However, Grace takes innovation to a brand-new level when she successfully connects with a version of the Skytwister Press for the victory, with her recovering fantastically from almost falling to connect perfectly with the move; It’s certainly a move that I hope she keeps in her arsenal! (**1/2)

There’s some good work from Rea Seto on Miku Aono’s arm, matching the Pure White Belt Champion in a brief opening grappling exchange before locking the arm in a Cattle Mutilation. There’s moments of sloppiness, but she recovers well, and Aono is able to act as a base for her to work around. When Aono gets sick of Seto’s fighting spirit, she puts her down with a savage efficiency, a mixture of Lariats and kicks, followed by a thumping Buzzsaw Kick to put a final bow on proceedings. Not a bad first singles match back for Seto following some time on the sideline for a fractured rib! (**3/4)

Having lain down her challenge for the Twinstar Championships alongside Kizuna Tanaka, it is important for Yuzuki to build as much momentum as possible. CHIAKI of course has absolutely no intention of allowing this, and instead repeatedly stymies the super rookie’s momentum with a calm and collected assault on her back. She can’t make it count though, and Yuzuki is able to ride the attack before rocking the Dark Wolf with a thumping Superkick to the jaw, following this by then surprising her with her version of the Quetzalcoatl that she calls the YuzuCrush for the victory. (**3/4)

Nao and Nanae had a very frank heart-to-heart conversation following another Ishikawa loss at Korakuen Hall, with the result being a second Passion Injection match between the two coming up at the next Korakuen event. Lacking a pinfall victory at any point during her Marigold career, and desperate to prove herself ahead of her upcoming match against her fellow Passion Sister, Ishikawa looks to start quickly against Utami, but is quickly overpowered and outthought by a woman riding high from her Dream Star Grand Prix victory. That being said, Nao rallies and is able to run through a series of offensive moves culminating a close count with the Double Underhook Facebuster. In an attempt to show fire, she slaps Utami hard around the face, but this only serves to anger Hayashishita, who then absolutely levels Ishikawa with a crunching forearm. Aside from a quick Crucifix pin in an attempt to counter an Air Raid Crash, Nao can’t scrabble her way back into the match, and Utami wraps things up with a pair of German Suplexes. (***1/4)

Main Event Matches

Chika Goto is adamant that she wants to face Nanae, but Tanaka forces herself in front of Takahashi and asks that she instead goes against Goto. Though initially using her speed to her advantage, it’s not long before Goto’s power advantage shines through, with her and Amarei completley isolating Tanaka from her partner. Things do improve when Takahashi is able to make her way into the ring, but the tWin toWers’s chemistry and teamwork shines through on a number of occasions, against both Tanaka and Takahashi. Amarei in particular flies into her exchanges with Nanae, and this leads to a great back-and-forth. Goto also seems the most comfortable in the ring she has seemed in a long time, and capitalises on this with her own good exchange with Nanae and then her continued dominance over Tanaka. It’s Amarei that’s eventually able to keep the plucky Tanaka down, with the latter having withstood everything from new tag team offence, to a barrage of Big Boots from both Amarei and Goto, to a Spinebuster, but hasn’t got enough left to then kick out of the ensuing Amethyst Butterfly. In spite of the fact that MiraiSaku have the better chemistry due to them being Twinstar Champions and considering the simmering tensions between Showzuki and Matsui in regards to the Superfly Championship, it is perhaps surprising that it is the latter team that completely dominate proceedings early on, Showzuki in particular attacking MIRAI’s arm viciously. It doesn’t last however, and following a swift MIRAI Dropkick, the champions are able to isolate and completely dominate Misa Matsui, attacking her back with such a fearsome relentlessness that she attempts – and fails – to escape from the ring. It’s only when a fiery Showzuki re-enters the fray that they are able to regain a foothold in the match. In fact, this is the story for a large portion of the back-end of the match, with Showzuki’s re-introduction swaying the tide as Matsui struggles to assert her own dominance, with one notable example being Showzuki stopping Sakurai hitting the Elbow Drop and forcing both her and MIRAI to the outside so that Matsui could wipe them out with a Diving Crossbody from the top. Despite a Maru Maru Suplex, Matsui still can’t add the definitive final touch, and following some teamwork from the champions, Sakurai is able to lock in the STF as MIRAI keeps Showzuki at bay, leading to the submission victory. Following the match, Matsui makes an official challenge for the Superfly Championship once again, though this will understandably have to wait until after next week’s Korakuen Hall show where Showzuki will be making her second title defence against the debuting Hummingbird.
