During Marigold’s first foray into the Ryogoku Kokugikan on the 13th July for their highly successful Summer Destiny 2024 show, the company announced their inaugural round-robin tournament – the Dream Star Grand Prix – due to run from the end of August through September.

Though dates for the shows were announced, with the finals due to take place in the Nagoya Congress Center Event Hall on September 28th, no competitors or block structures were announced.

However, following the main event of the 30th July Korakuen Hall show that saw Marigold crown their first ever Twinstar Champions, the company announced via their social media channels that there would be sixteen competitors in the inaugural tournament, before announcing the names of the twelve that had automatically made it into the tournament.

Alongside those twelve, it was also announced that there would be a further four spots up for grabs, with three to be decided via qualifying matches and one intriguingly held for a wrestler from ‘another promotion’. Due to Marigold’s partnership with WWE, it has been widely speculated that this could be a member of the NXT roster.

Qualifiers for the Dream Star Grand Prix are as follows, with the matches due to take place on this weekend’s shows in Tokushima and Hiroshima;

  • Chika Goto vs. Nao Ishikawa (3rd August, Tokushima)
  • Victoria Yuzuki vs. Myla Grace (4th August, Hiroshima)
  • Kizuna Tanaka vs. Zayda Steel (4th August, Hiroshima)

The full announced tournament field is as follows;

  • Utami Hayashishita
  • Miku Aono
  • MIRAI
  • Nanae Takahashi
  • Natsumi Showzuki
  • Mai Sakurai
  • Kouki Amarei
  • Misa Matsui
