With Summer Destiny 2024 in Ryogoku Kokugikan being an unmitigated success, crowning three inaugural champions in the process, Dream Star Fighting Marigold announced through their social media channels that a tournament to crown the first Marigold Twinstar Champions – the company’s tag team belts – will begin on this weekend’s shows in Shin-Kiba and Nagoya, as well as then confirming the design.

A play on the ARSION promotion’s Twinstar of ARSION titles, it was confirmed that the titles were initially going to be called the Twinstar of Marigold Championships before later opting to drop the ‘of’ entirely.
Alongside the announcement of the tournament and the official design of the belts, Marigold also announced the participating teams and match-ups heading into this weekend’s shows. The confirmed teams are as follows;
- Miku Aono & Natsumi Showzuki
- MIRAI & Mai Sakurai
- Zayda Steel & Myla Grace
- Passion Sisters (Nanae Takahashi & Nao Ishikawa)
- tWin toWers (Kouki Amarei & Chika Goto)
- Kizuna Tanaka & Victoria Yuzuki
- CHIAKI & Nagisa Nozaki
- Rea Sato & Komomo Minami
Cohesive teams such as the Passion Sisters and tWin toWers will undoubtedly have the advantage of chemistry during this tournament, whilst the team of Miku Aono and Natsumi Showzuki – both crowned as champions at Summer Destiny – possess an unparalleled star power. Kizuna Tanaka and Victoria Yuzuki impressed on their tag debut in Ryogoku, CHIAKI and Nagisa Nozaki have been tearing through teams since their devilish alliance was made official, while the dysfunctional team of Zayda Steel and Myla Grace hit another bump in the road in their loss to CHIAKI and Nozaki inside Sumo Hall, and it will be interesting to see how they can co-exist going forward.

On top of the Marigold Twinster Tournament first round matches, the show from 20th July in Shin-Kiba will have Sareee and Giulia coming face-to-face once again in six-woman tag team action, Bozilla looking to reek havoc on Misa Matsui after being outsmarted by Miku Aono in Sumo Hall and Utami Hayashishita and CHIAKI in singles action.

Tag team action is the aim of the game when it comes to the show the following day in Nagoya. Not only will Rea Sato and Komomo Minami be teaming against Nozaki and CHIAKI in tournament action, but Aono and Showzuki will be facing Yuzuki and Tanaka in what could be a low-key match of the tournament contender. Elsewhere, Giulia and Mai Sakurai will take on Utami Hayashishita and MIRAI in a match that, under any other circumstances, would easily headline any other show. Nanae Takahashi faces a stern test in the form of Bozilla, with partners Zayda Steel and Myla Grace on opposing sides.
