As previously teased at the end of their tag team match at last month’s Flashing Champions PPV, Mayu Iwatani’s sixth IWGP Women’s Championship defence will happen against Tsukasa Fujimoto on the 23rd June 2024.

However, in a first for the Championship and per the request of Fujimoto, the title defence is due to take place inside of an Ice Ribbon ring.

Following Tsukasa Fujimoto’s IceXInfinity Title Block B League loss to Hamuko Hoshi on the 9th June, Mayu made an appearance on the video screen to lay down the challenge at Ice Ribbon’s next Korakuen Hall show on the 23rd June. This was then made official at Stardom’s press conference on the 11th June where the full card for THE CONVERSION was also announced.

As previously stated, this will be Mayu’s sixth defence of the title, with her reign itself stretching to 427 days by the time of the match. The match will also mark Iwatani’s first match in an Ice Ribbon ring since 2012 where she would team with Hikari Minami in a losing effort against Eri Susa and Manami Katsu.
